This Presentation relates to mixed CVC short medial vowels a, e, i, o, u. A lovely time-saving presentation to introduce into your phonic sessions. Play in Slide Show. Students are asked to think, pair and share. Presentation 1 – (6 Slides) (Suitable to assess students’ knowledge of CVC words). You can use this presentation to see how many words your children can make with each of the five medial vowels in CVC words. To make it more exciting, I have uploaded a timer set for 2 mins and 5 mins. Children write as many CVC words as they can with: • Medial vowel ‘a’ • Medial vowel ‘e’ • Medial vowel ‘i’ • Medial vowel ‘o’ • Medial vowel ‘u’ You can do a vowel a day. Presentation 2 – (16 Slides) (Suitable for Middle Ability students) In this presentation, students are asked to write CVC words, but they are given clues in sentences to help them. You can show one sentence clue at a time. When they have written the word on their whiteboards or have given an answer orally, you can reveal the answers on the next slides. Each picture is labelled with its CVC word. Presentation 3 – (16 Slides) (Suitable for students learning CVC Words with short vowels) In this presentation, children are shown pictures of mixed CVC words. With their partner, they say the word and write it down. You can show one picture at a time. When they have written their word, reveal the answers one by one by clicking on the slide. Option: You can choose which presentation you want to play in your phonics session. You may want to concentrate just on medial vowel ‘e’ in all three presentations. Also included: Teacher Notes PowerPoint 2 mins and 5 mins Timer Thank you for visiting my shop:-) This is part of a bundle.

This resource contains three PowerPoint Presentations on mixed phonics CVC words. Teacher’s Guide included. Phonics Input Sessions: Segment and blend CVC words orally and in writing. These presentations can cover numerous phonic sessions. Play in Slide Show Each presentation contains 80 slides and has three different functions - see below The presentations are set up so that you have to click on the arrows, home, end slide function buttons. To reveal the letters in each word, you have to click on the purple squares. Click on any slide you want to use by going back and forth on the arrows. You can end the Slide Show at any time, click on END SLIDE SHOW>. In Slide Show you can use the forward/backward arrows to select the slides you want to use in your phonics lesson. This is so convenient as you can choose the words you want to focus on. Children will see a picture for each word. Suggested Activities What’s the missing phoneme? The CVC words are covered up ready to be revealed when you click on a square. You can differentiate the lesson by revealing two letters at a time and asking children to say and/or write what they think the missing phoneme is. • Click on the squares to reveal the letters you want in the lesson. • The children use the pictures as a visual aid to help them say or write the missing phoneme. What are the missing phoneme? • You can make the lesson more challenging by only revealing one phoneme and the children write or say the two missing phonemes. What’s the picture – Segment and blend CVC words You can assess how well the children segment and blend the CVC words. Select any slide in Slide Show. Ask the children what the picture is. You can prompt them if they are not sure. Get them to say the letters by sounding out and blending. Ask them to write the word on their whiteboards and then show you. You can reveal the answers by clicking on the squares. Alternatively, tell you the children you are going to show them slides of pictures and they have, e.g. a few seconds, to write the letter that corresponds to each phoneme on their whiteboards and then show you on their mini- whiteboards. I have also upload a PowerPoint Timer, timed at 2 mins and 5 mins as an option to use. Please see Preview Pane on the words used in this resource. Thank you for your interest.

Onset and Rime Presentation, Activities, Worksheet, Teacher Notes - Reception Class/KS1

(2)
This resource relates to onset and rime word families. Aimed at: Reception Class/KS1, SEN and ESL/EFL Students. Product Content: Onset and Rime PowerPoint Presentation with animation Recording worksheet Hexagon shape card – laminate and cut out Onset card divided into three sections for onset and rime activities - laminate This presentation is an introduction to onset and rime presented in a way that children understand the concept and consolidate their knowledge by carrying out practical activities and recording their work on a worksheet or into their workbooks. I find this resource very useful, especially in smaller group settings. There are so many onset and rime word families. I have used the easier ones in the presentation. To make this resource flexible and ‘hands-on’, I have made an onset card which you can laminate. Once I laminated the card, I dabbed the letters with a dry erase pen on the onsets I wanted children to use to make onset and rime families. So there is an opportunity to differentiate the tasks. I have also made a hexagon shape rime card. Just laminate and write the rime you want the children to use together with the Onset Card. You can differentiate the activities by choosing the rimes you want the more advance groups to use and easier rimes for the groups that find blending onset and rime challenging. Dabbing the onsets you want some children to use with the rimes makes it easier for them to build word families. Hope you enjoy using this resource. Thank you for your interest:-)

Aimed at: Reception/KS1 Total worksheets: 40 Description of resources: • Set 1 Worksheets – Select the correct initial letters for pictures; • Set 2 Worksheets – Select 6 correct initial letters out of the 8 from the rectangle to write below the pictures ; • Set 3 Worksheets – Select correct initial capital letter from circle to complete each word; • Set 4 Worksheets – Each box contains two pictures beginning with the same initial letters. Students write the initial alphabet letter for the pictures. • Set 5 Worksheets – Fill in the missing letter to complete the word then rewrite the whole word in capital letters. • Set 6 Worksheets – The pictures in each box start with different initial alphabet letters.
